Warriors camp ahead of 2025 AFCON tournament

The Zimbabwe senior men’s football team, the Warriors, has begun preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco, which kicks off on December 21, 2025, and runs until January 18, 2026. The locally-based contingent has reported for camp in Harare, marking the start of their intense training program.

The Warriors will face Egypt, Angola, and South Africa in the group stage, with their campaign starting on December 22 against North Africa giants, Egypt.

The team is led by head coach Marian Mario Marinica, who is using this camp to assess player readiness and tactical suitability. Training sessions are currently taking place behind closed doors, with the technical staff aiming to maintain confidentiality ahead of the continental showpiece.

Some notable players in the provisional squad include Walter Musona, Knowledge Musona, and Tawanda Maswanhise, who has expressed his excitement about representing Zimbabwe at the tournament.
