
Zimbabwe is making big moves to boost its tourism sector! The government has slashed tourism business costs to lure more investments and reduce the cost of doing business, aligning with the country’s mantra “Zimbabwe is open for business”.
Key Fee Reductions:
- Local Authority Licence Fees: Cut by 50%
- Hotel Registration Fees: Reduced from up to US$250,000 to US$20,000
- Guesthouse Registration: Cut from up to US$500 to US$150
- Liquor Licence Requirement: Removed for tourism operators
- Commercial Boat Permit: Removed
- Houseboat Permit: Reduced from US$2,500 to US$1,250 (50% cut)
- External Tour Operators Licence: Reduced from US$3,000 to US$1,500
- Aircraft Licence: Reduced from US$500-US$1,000 to US$20
- Restaurants and Food Establishments Licences: Reduced from US$305 to US$100
- General Investment Licence: Reduced from US$5,000/year to US$4,000 over 3 years
These reductions aim to stimulate tourism investment, create jobs, and increase foreign currency earnings, supporting Zimbabwe’s goal to become an Upper-Middle-Income country by 2030 .
