One die in rail level crossing accident

A tragic accident occurred at a rail level crossing in Rusape, resulting in the loss of a Mozambique Ports and Railways (CFM) crew member’s life.

The motor trolley they were in was hit by a Malawi-registered haulage truck, due to the driver’s failure to follow level crossing regulations.which instruct drivers to STOP and ALL level crossing and only proceed after establishing that there is no train approaching, resulting in the collision.

The National.Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) expressed its sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased.

Motorists are urged to always follow level crossing regulations and exercise caution when approaching rail crossings to avoid similar accidents.

Of late a number of accidents claim.lives at level crossings, a worrying trend. Authorities are urged to punish offenders severely.
