Chibuku Super Cup Semi-Finals Roar to Life

It’s a do-or-die showdown as the Premier Soccer League (PSL) 2025 Chibuku Super Cup semi-finals kick off this weekend at Ngoni Stadium and Rufaro Stadium.

Semi-finalists and PSL debutants, MWOS FC the punters, will be aiming to win their first trophy as they host Triangle United FC, the Sugar Boys, at Ngoni Stadium in Norton on Saturday 25 October. MWOS currently sits in 3rd position in the league, while Triangle is in 13th place after 31 games, with 3 games remaining in the season. Based on league standings, MWOS has the advantage in this matchup. However, Triangle, who won the tournament in 2018, will be determined to claim victory in this knockout game.

The other semi-final features Dynamos FC, Dembare, against Highlanders FC, Bosso—both former Chibuku Super Cup champions. This match is scheduled for Sunday, October 26th, at the iconic Rufaro Stadium in Harare. Known as the “Battle of Zimbabwe,” this titanic clash could go either way as both teams are struggling this season, trailing behind newcomers Scottland FC, who lead the league with 56 points after 31 games.

Dynamos currently face relegation, sitting 16th, third from the bottom—a surprising position given their history and trophy haul. Highlanders are in 10th place with 36 points, marking a disappointing season for the Bulawayo giants.

Dynamos’ fans favourite, Denver Mukamba and Jairos Kasondo will miss the fixture due to suspension. The same applies to Triangle United’s Aaron Zeka.

As these four teams battle for a spot in the final, it remains to be seen who will advance.

The Chibuku Super Cup, reintroduced in 2014, is Zimbabwe’s premier knockout competition, with the winner earning a place in the CAF Confederation Cup. Sponsors Chibuku have been instrumental since the tournament’s revival.
