Harare- The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) on Wednesday handed over a new classroom block to Warren Park Six Primary School in Harare as part of its ongoing Community Assistance Week initiative.
The double-storey block is set to relief overcrowding at the school.
Harare Metropolitan Province permanent secretary Cosmas Chiringa expressed gratitude to the ZDF for uplifting local communities.
“We want to thank the ZDF for the nobble gesture”.
This shows that they are committed to supporting us as Harare Province in Infrastructural Development, he said.
The Zimbabwe National Army Commander, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Matatu, speaking on behalf of ZDF Commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda during the handover ceremony, reaffirmed the ZDF’s dedication to supporting education and infrastructure development.
“The Zimbabwe Defence Forces remains committed not only to guaranteeing peace and stability for the citizens of Zimbabwe but also playing an active part in national development efforts, especially in the communities that surround our cantonment areas”, said Commander Matatu.
Communities are a vital component of our existence, for in them is our cradle, our recruitment base and the haven to which we all retire.
“It is therefore imperative that we pay homage through corporate social responsibility programmes like the one we are witnessing today”, added Lieutenant General Matatu.
He highlighted that, this is in tandem with our secondary roles of military assistance to civil ministries and civil communities respectively. He added:
“As the annual ZDF Community Assistance Week unfolds, a number of community projects are set to be handed over across the country”.
