It was a stalemate as Dynamos Football Club and their arch rivals Caps United drew one all in round 12 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League fixture at the ceremonial home of football Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

The game which was marred by a supporters boycott went ahead with a bumper crowd in attendance given the high profile nature of the game. Dynamos supporters are not happy with the team’s performance and are calling for Board Chairman, Bernard Marriott’s ouster to salvage the season. Supporters are accusing him of running down their beloved team. The supporters who made it to the stadium had placards written “TEARS OF 7 MILLION”. They shared their pain through the placards.

Dynamos Captain, Emmanuel Jalai gave the blue legion something to cheer up in the 52nd minute from the spot kick after a Caps United “Kepekepe” defender handled the ball in the box and the referee of the day did not hesitate to point to the spot. The captain was tasked with the responsibility to take the spot kick. He sent the Caps United import goalkeeper Ghanaian, Stephen Odai Kwaku the wrong way. Jalai’s penalty was their 3rd goal of the season from a round of 12 games played so far. The goal return is pathetic and unusual for the former champions.

Caps United had the chance to claim the bragging rights as they dominated the whole first half but were failing to convert their chances in the final third. The missed opportunities allowed the host to come back into the game. The second half belonged to the host.

The visitors had to thank Kundayi Benyu in the 68th minute when his powerful shot skyrocketed into the far corner of the net from a distance that left Prince Tafiremutsa in goals for Dembare with no chance. The Caps United captain counted himself unlucky when he almost killed the host after he caught the hosts by surprise towards the dying minutes only for Prince to block the resultant half volley.

This derby had everything that fans expect from football but it did not produce the winner.
