The defeat leaves them in third position from the bottom of the log standings after recording their third defeat out of five games. It might be too early to rule them out of the race but their supporters are finding it difficult to swallow the bitter pill.
Ngezi’s win left them sitting at the summit of the log with 13 points from five games. They have drawn once and won four games. Makepekepe supporters are baying for coach Lloyd Chitembwe’s blood after a poor run of form.
Obriel Chirinda of Ngezi drew the first blood in the 41st minute after a Caps defence mix up. The hosts got an equalizer in the 69th minute after their striker Jayden Bakari was brought down by Ngezi defender just a few metres away from the box. The resultant free kick brought Caps United back into the game.
A Ngezi defender failed to clear the lines and directed the ball into his own net under pressure. Surprisingly the hosts failed to guard their draw and allowed the visitors to score another one. It was Ashwin Karengesha who put the final nail into the coffin with only four minutes after the hosts had equalized. He received a long pass from the right flank and raced a few metres before pulling the trigger that gave Caps goalie Harmony Nare no chance and the ball rested into the far top corner and silenced the host.
Caps tried to crow back but it was all in vain. Shandirwa had a chance to pull back but he failed to properly connect it and his effort went overbar with Ngezi goalkeeper Darlington Marasiranwa nowhere to be seen. They nearly got it when Brighton Manhire had come from his position during a corner kick in a desperation but his effort was denied by the post.
After the final whistle the Caps supporters started singing and demanding the removal of Lloyd chitembwe. Security had to stand their ground and make sure they were not going to allow anyone close to the coach.
Takesure “Deco” Chiragwi applauded his team for playing good football giving them the much needed three points.
