Scottland Edge Triangle United in Dramatic PSL Opener at Rufaro

Scottland 1

Triangle. 0

Scottland secured a last-minute 1-0 victory over Triangle United in the first match of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season at Rufaro Stadium.

The game, dominated by Triangle for most of the match, was decided by a stoppage-time own goal from Blessing Chiota, whose miscommunication with goalkeeper Hamilton Mukaingama handed Scottland an unexpected win.

Despite being outclassed in all departments, Scottland held on and found a breakthrough in added time. Triangle played with confidence, controlling possession and creating more chances, but their efforts went unrewarded.

Veterans Ali Sadiki and Thabani showcased their experience, causing trouble for the Scottland defense throughout the game.

Controversy marred the match as Scottland captain Walter Musona escaped a straight red card despite punching a Triangle defender in front of the referee.

Meanwhile, Triangle coach Luke “Vahombe” Masomere, visibly frustrated after conceding so late, refused to speak to the media and left immediately after the final whistle.

For Scottland, the victory serves as a morale booster in their debut PSL season, especially after significant investment in their squad during the off-season.

Expectations are high for the newcomers as they navigate top-flight football.
