Mighty Warriors crash out of AFCON 2026 qualifiers

The Zimbabwe Senior Women’s Football National team, the Mighty Warriors crashed out of the 2026 AFCON Qualifiers after succumbing to a 5-4 penalty shootout defeat against Angola.

The game ended 2 – 1 in favour of the hosts playing in South Africa and 3-3 on aggregate.

The first fixture ended 1 – 2 in favour of Angola. It’s back to the drawing board for the girls as their hopes of qualification were quashed despite a spirited performance that saw them overturn the deficit in normal time.

That was not enough as they were beaten in the resultant penalty shootout.
