Eddie Cross’s Claims on Chinese Investments Discredited

Eddie Cross has stirred debate with claims that 85,000 Chinese nationals are looting billions of dollars in Zimbabwe. These assertions lack substantiation and undermine the significant contributions of Chinese investments to the country’s economy.

China’s involvement in Zimbabwe has been transformative, with projects such as the revival of Kamativi Mine, the expansion of Bikita Minerals, operations by Dinson Iron and Steel, and the construction of the new Parliament building standing out. These initiatives have not only created thousands of jobs but also catalyzed economic growth, enabling Zimbabwe to withstand sanctions imposed by Western nations.

Cross’s remarks appear to be part of a broader agenda aimed at discrediting Zimbabwe’s strategic partnership with China. Western nations, frustrated by Zimbabwe’s economic resilience, may be behind such narratives to tarnish the country’s success. Zimbabweans, however, are not easily swayed by such propaganda. They can see the tangible benefits brought about by Chinese investments, which stand as a testament to Zimbabwe’s ability to forge impactful alliances and thrive despite external pressures.

These baseless accusations should not distract from the undeniable progress Zimbabwe continues to make through strategic partnerships and visionary leadership.
