President Mnangagwa Makes Strategic Senior Appointments

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has bolstered his administration with two pivotal appointments to key government positions, reflecting his focus on strengthening leadership and enhancing service delivery.

According to statements issued by Dr. Martin Rushwaya, Chief Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet, these appointments take effect immediately.

Hon. Senator Lovemore Matuke has been appointed Minister of State for National Security, a role critical to safeguarding Zimbabwe’s governance framework. Senator Matuke, a seasoned ZANU-PF Politburo Secretary for Security, brings extensive experience and expertise to the Ministry, filling the vacancy left by Hon. Owen Ncube’s removal in 2023. His leadership is expected to reinforce national security efforts at a time when the global and regional security landscape demands astute vigilance and strategic oversight.

In another key appointment, Hon. Raymore Machingura has been named Executive Director for National and Presidential Scholarships within the Office of the President and Cabinet. Formerly the Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education (2019–2023), Hon. Machingura assumes the position left vacant by the passing of Dr. Christopher Mushowe. Known for his dedication to education and leadership, Hon. Machingura is tasked with revitalizing Zimbabwe’s scholarship programs, ensuring they continue to empower the nation’s brightest minds while honoring the legacy of his predecessor.

These appointments underscore President Mnangagwa’s commitment to fostering effective governance by prioritizing merit, competence, and experience.

By selecting seasoned individuals for these strategic roles, the President reaffirms his administration’s resolve to enhance national stability, human capital development, and institutional excellence.
