Raging Fire destroys property worth thousands at Mbare Musika market

This is what is left after a fire broke out at Mbare Market

In a sad development and major set back for market stall owners, a raging fire broke out at the Mbare Musika market in Harare on Tuesday night.

The inferno is started in the evening although authorities are yet to establish its cause.

The fire brigade with the help of members of the public managed to control the fire which risked engulfing nearby houses and business premises.

The tragedy is a sad occurrence which leaves the stall owners vulnerable as that was their source of livelihood.

The incident also brings to the fore the need for informal traders and small to medium enterprises to take insurance cover for them to have back up options in the event of such tragic incidents.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
