SMEs International Expo 2024 to Focus on AI and New Technologies for Business Growth

The 14th Edition of the SMEs International Expo is set to take place from October 2nd to 5th at the Monomotapa Hotel Gardens in Harare. This annual event provides small businesses and corporate organizations with a strategic platform to showcase their products and services, while also fostering collaboration and partnerships between SMEs and larger corporations. The Expo is designed to strengthen synergies and linkages, with the goal of increasing brand visibility and expanding business opportunities.

The Expo, along with its associated Business Conference, serves as a key event for businesses and individuals looking to expand market reach, network with industry leaders, and explore new avenues for growth. Exhibitors will have the chance to connect with investors and business partners from the SADC region and beyond, while building valuable relationships that can propel their businesses forward.

This year’s Expo is being held under the theme “Accelerating Productivity with New Technologies & Artificial Intelligence.” It aims to equip participants with expert knowledge and insights into how AI and other emerging technologies can boost productivity and competitiveness. The focus on technology is particularly important for SMEs, which need to be adaptive to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving business environment.

Women and youth are also central to this year’s Expo, with special emphasis on helping these groups harness the power of new technologies and AI to improve the ease of doing business. With rising concerns over youth involvement in harmful activities, the Expo seeks to refocus their energies toward productive and developmental pursuits, providing them with the tools to succeed in the digital economy.

In addition to fostering business growth, the Expo also aims to positively influence policy, economic, and social development in Zimbabwe. Through thought leadership and strategic discussions, the event provides a platform for shaping policies that affect the SME sector, while also offering businesses valuable insights into market trends, best practices, and technological advancements.

The Expo aligns with Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy and the goal of achieving an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. By promoting the growth and capacity-building of SMEs, the event contributes to the broader economic empowerment agenda. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with policymakers, enabling them to better navigate regulatory frameworks that impact their operations.

This year’s Expo has attracted exhibitors from across the SADC region and beyond, promoting intra-African trade and foreign direct investment. The focus on engagement and re-engagement with the international community highlights the potential for Zimbabwe’s SMEs to tap into global markets.

The accompanying Annual Business Conference, set to take place on October 3rd and 4th, will cover critical topics such as leveraging emerging technologies for business growth, regional and global lessons on AI scalability, and the impact of generative AI on business success. Business leaders will gain insights into how technology can help them navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing business landscape.

The SMEs International Expo 2024 promises to be a dynamic event that equips businesses with the knowledge, tools, and networks they need to thrive in the digital age.
