Now, anti-government activists like Hopewell Chin’ono, Kuda Musasiwa, and Susan Mutami are calling for transparency regarding these funds. Musasiwa recently posted on X, demanding a public inquiry under the hashtag #WhoTookTheMoney. He revealed that CCC legislator Casten Matewu was shocked to find out he never received $1,000 that was supposedly allocated to him before the elections.
This situation is not new. Chamisa had previously received $120,000 from supporters to buy a bullet-proof car after claiming an assassination attempt. However, he allegedly used the money for personal expenses instead. Similar issues occurred with other donations and funds raised by the party.
Many CCC legislators, including Matewu, did not receive their promised funds, explaining why Chamisa did not challenge the election results in court. In 2018, Chamisa reportedly used funds meant for election agents for personal use, causing confusion and leaving agents without the necessary documents to contest election results.
Corruption in opposition circles has often gone unnoticed, but this push for accountability highlights the need to expose corrupt practices within the party. The growing demand for transparency aims to hold Chamisa and others accountable for their actions.
