Epworth Communities Benefit from Boreholes Donated by Miss Universe Organization Partnership

Mrs Miniyothabo Baloyi-Chiwenga

Two new boreholes were donated to Epworth communities in a significant step toward improving access to clean water in drought-stricken areas of Zimbabwe. The initiative, led by Nyaradzo and Nakiso in collaboration with the Miss Universe organization, was officially launched at a ceremony were Mrs Miniyothabo Baloyi-Chiwenga, the wife of Vice-President Rtd General CDGN Chiwenga, delivered a keynote address.

In her address, Mrs. Baloyi-Chiwenga emphasized the importance of clean water access as a fundamental human right and a priority in the government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change. She commended the partnership between local stakeholders and international organizations, noting that such collaborations are vital in addressing pressing community needs.

The event was attended by dignitaries including the Nicaraguan Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Ms. Nadeska Imara Cuthbert Carlson, and Harare Mayor Jacob Mapume. The new boreholes represent a critical development in providing clean water to households in the area.

Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios, also spoke at the event, expressing her admiration for Zimbabwe’s natural beauty and the warmth of its people. Her presence is expected to enhance Zimbabwe’s image internationally, challenging negative perceptions often portrayed in global media.

Local resident Mrs. Mugede expressed her gratitude, noting that “Water was becoming a big problem for us. This borehole is a huge relief, providing us with clean water for drinking, cooking, and even for our small gardens.”

The partnership between the Miss Universe Zimbabwe organization and local stakeholders highlights the impact of collaborative efforts in addressing basic needs like water. This initiative not only meets an immediate necessity but also contributes to long-term sustainability in the region.

As Zimbabwe continues to face the challenges of climate change, these boreholes represent a proactive step toward a more secure and sustainable future for its citizens.
