SADC Leaders Tour Zimbabwe’s State-of-the-Art Geo Pomona, Reflecting Confidence in New Administration

During the 44th SADC Summit, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, newly appointed SADC Chairman, reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s dedication to sustainable development by hosting a tour of the Geo Pomona Waste Management Site for visiting Heads of State and dignitaries. This state-of-the-art facility, which embodies the country’s commitment to innovative waste management and renewable energy, was a key highlight of the summit, illustrating Zimbabwe’s leadership in green initiatives.

The Geo Pomona site, a flagship project under President Mnangagwa’s administration, transforms waste into clean energy, setting a new standard for sustainable waste management in the region. By converting waste into 16 to 22 megawatts of electricity, the facility not only reduces the country’s reliance on fossil fuels but also significantly decreases carbon emissions, contributing to a healthier environment.
