Zimbabwe’s Health Ministry Improves Healthcare Services

Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Child Care has made significant progress in enhancing the country’s healthcare system. Recent projects include the repair of cancer treatment machines, installation of solar power systems in health facilities, completion of a containerized laboratory, and construction of a water tank. These efforts are aimed at improving healthcare delivery and patient care.

One key project involves constructing 20 pharmacy stores across the country, with 90 percent of the work already completed. This initiative will help ensure better access to essential medicines and healthcare services, especially in underserved areas.

At Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, repairs to cancer treatment machines are nearly complete, with 76 percent of the work done. The Low Energy Unique machine is now fully operational, reducing the waiting time for radiation therapy. This progress counters false claims suggesting that the government was neglecting cancer treatment needs.

Additionally, solar power systems are being installed at 19 health facilities, with 97 percent of the project completed. This initiative will provide a reliable energy source, particularly in rural areas, ensuring uninterrupted medical services.

The installation of a modern containerized laboratory at Sally Mugabe Hospital is also complete. This new facility will allow for on-site testing, leading to quicker diagnoses and better patient outcomes.

Lastly, a water storage tank is being constructed at Chitungwiza Hospital to ensure a consistent water supply for patient care and hygiene.

These developments reflect the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and building a healthier future for all Zimbabweans.
