Dubeko-Sibanda Threatens SADC Summit with Protests

Former CCC Binga North legislator, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, has issued a stark warning to the SADC Summit organizers, threatening to shut down Harare through violent protests. Sibanda’s incendiary remarks were posted on X, stating, “Unless the @SADC_News creates a platform where the Heads of State will engage Zimbabweans on the SEOM report & other issues, we will create a platform to meet with them in the streets of Harare. No intimidation will stop us. Let’s shut down Harare in August.”

The Security Services are urged to address this threat from Sibanda and the CCC Chamisa faction swiftly and decisively. Authorities are calling for Sibanda to be detained and held accountable for his ultimatum to regional Heads of State. Such threats, targeting the highest officials of SADC member countries, must be taken seriously.

The CCC Chamisa faction has a contentious history marked by violent political tactics, often resulting in loss of life, property damage, and the fragmentation of families when primary breadwinners are incarcerated for participating in such unrest. This faction’s inclination towards violence has been well-documented and is a cause for concern as the SADC Summit approaches.

Patriotic and progressive Zimbabweans are urged to disregard these calls for disruption and instead support the successful hosting of the SADC Summit, a significant event for the country. For those who choose to engage in these protests, the disciplined Security Services are prepared to respond with firm measures to maintain order. Zimbabwe’s jails are ready to accommodate any individuals who partake in such lawlessness.
