WARNING NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC:PRODUCT RECALL OF 50ML SINGLE-USE NEUTRALIZING SHAMPOO CONTAINED IN DARK AND LOVELY MOISTURE PLUS KIT

The Consumer Protection Commission has received a notice from the COMESA Competition Commission regarding the recall of 50ml single-use neutralizing shampoo found in the Dark and Lovely Moisture Plus Kit (Regular and Super) and Dark and Lovely Anti-Breakage Kit.

The recall is due to the presence of bacteria that may cause scalp infections, particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems, as reported by the National Consumer Commission (NCC) of South Africa.

The Commission advises all members of the public who possess the 50ml single-use neutralizing shampoo from Dark and Lovely Moisture Plus Kits (Regular and Super) and Dark and Lovely Anti-Breakage Kit to immediately cease use of the product and return it to the point of purchase for a full refund. The manufacturer, L’Oreal, has initiated the recall.

This recall is conducted in accordance with Section 15 (I) (e), read with subsection 2 (b) of the Consumer Protection Act, which mandates the Commission to “recall goods for repair, replacement or refund if they are unsafe” and to “implement a recall program on terms specified by the Commission.
