Barca confirm departure of head coach, Xavi

Barcelona have confirmed the departure of Xavi Hernández as Head Coach of the club.

The coach will depart at the end of the season.

Xavi was informed by club president Joan Laporta in a team meeting today and the club issued a statement to that effect.

“Today Friday, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has informed Xavi Hernández that he will not be continuing as first team coach in the 2024-25 season’, read the club statement.

FC Barcelona thanked Xavi for his work as coach, as well as for his inimitable career as a player and as team captain, and wished him every future success in the world.

Xavi Hernández’s last game as coach will be in Sunday’s game away to Sevilla.

He has been with the club as coach from November 2021. Last year the team lifted the Laliga title.

During the course of the next few days, FC Barcelona will be making an announcement regarding the new first team structure
