Huge crowd for Hippo Valley Croco Golf Day

Staff Writer

AT LEAST 64 golfers from Masvingo, Harare, and Bulawayo battled it out at the Croco Motors Golf Day held at Hippo Valley Golf Club in Chiredzi over the weekend.

The Croco Motors Golf Day, which is mainly organised for its clients, returned to the local golfing scene this year after a long break occasioned by Covid-19 which first hit Zimbabwe’s shores in 2019.

Despite the break in what had been an annual event prior to the Covid-19 era, last week’s event proved that Croco Motors still wields the allure, as a sizeable number of golfers turned up to participate.

Now one of the country’s leading motor vehicle dealerships, Croco originated from Chiredzi and the annual Golf Day is a way to celebrate its roots.

Speaking after the Golf Day, which the company fully sponsored, Croco Motors operations manager Simon Chakoma shared his delight at the impressive turnout for the event.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our stakeholders for keeping us going over the years. Your support and loyalty have been invaluable to us, and we are grateful for your continued partnership.

“To all the golf players, we wish to congratulate you on your performance and thank you for participating in this year’s tournament. Your skill and sportsmanship have made this event an enjoyable one, and we are proud to be associated with such talented individuals,” said Chakoma.

Croco Motors was also one of the corporate partners for the country’s flagship tournament, the Zimbabwe Open Golf tournament which ran from May 17 to 22.

Croco Motors’ involvement in golf sponsorship bears testimony to the group’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in promoting the development of the sport in Zimbabwe and the African Continent at large.

And over the years, Croco has become synonymous with golf in Zimbabwe, having also participated in previous editions of the Zimbabwe Open Golf tournament as an associate sponsor.

However, Croco Motors has also been actively involved in sports development through its support of various school sports teams and competitions across Zimbabwe.

Recently, Croco Motors sponsored Arundel’s first-team hockey team and the St John’s College rugby first-team.

Through its various sports development initiatives, Croco Motors has demonstrated its commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and supporting local talent in Zimbabwe.

The leading automotive company in the country believes that sports have the power to bring people together and build communities.
